Today I completed a day of relief teaching to a year four class at St Johns Grammar School. The students were creating rainforest dioramas in Technology and I carried out a maths test and spelling test in line with their usual timetable. Students responded well to behaviour management, I utilised the behaviour/warning chart present in the classroom and a bell to gain students attention. One child in the class has Autism and as a result and was a little unsettled by the change in routine from his usual teacher. However, I focused on creating a relationship with this student in which he could come and discuss with me anything he was uncomfortable about . He did this a few times in the day when he felt overwhelmed and we negoitated some time out to read quietly.
